Empty Arms
Coping with Miscarriage, Stillbirth, and Infant Death
by Sherokee Ilse
Although, one of the best known books of this type, I had not read EMPTY ARMS until recently. How, I wish I had had access to this book while still in the hospital. It is short, well organized, and offers suggestions on coping in the days, weeks, and moths after your loss.
This author has lost a baby to stillbirth and another to miscarriage. In her words you can tell she has walked this path. She is now a nationally recognized speaker on perinatal death and has written or co-written several other related books.
I also believe it is a wonderful resource for hospital staff. For those who did not have a healing hospital experience and wish to improve services in this area for other parents, this book could do wonders in that direction.
