As we celebrate International Women’s Day today, tell us how women are paving the way to the top of the corporate ladder.
I believe it all starts with your mindset and adopting a winning mentality. Women recognize their power, claim their space and work hard to get where they want to be. They are not afraid to express themselves and do not wait to be given opportunities. It’s amazing how far you can go when you think big and believe in yourself and your work.

Having women in visible leadership positions is so important because it encourages and empowers young women starting their careers. It is up to us to lead by example, to show ourselves, to share our stories and to encourage others to stand out. I believe in building support networks with other women, providing career advice or mentoring, and advocating for more women in business. This is exactly why I am so proud to do what I do at Business Incorporation Zone (BIZ).

Tell us about your own journey as an entrepreneur. What were your main learnings along the way??

I started my career in telecommunications and then moved into banking, but I always had bigger aspirations to help people with their businesses in any way I could. Today I run one of the leading business start-up companies in Dubai with the experience I have accumulated over a decade.

The main thing I learned in my journey is that you have to believe in yourself, in your idea and in your vision. Congratulate yourself on your victories, but also be prepared to fail. Failure allows us to learn from our mistakes and continue to grow. And finally, give back where you can. There is nothing more fulfilling than helping people and seeing them thrive, that’s what motivates me every day.

What really excites me is asking young women to be more ambitious and aim higher so they can reach their full potential. My happiness lies in helping people launch their entrepreneurial careers, and during my time at BIZ, I have successfully helped several clients achieve this goal.

Our business is all about supporting new beginnings; we pride ourselves on giving our customers the best possible start to their business. We support entrepreneurs at every stage of their business. Not all people and businesses can fit into a single plan, so we make sure our approach is very personal. Once our clients are fully set up, we like to be there for them if they need additional help, whether it’s marketing, e-commerce solutions, or other consulting services.

What are the main challenges women face in the workplace?
The pay gap between men and women remains a major problem. Women do not earn as much as their male counterparts and do not feel confident enough to ask for salary increases. They often feel that they are not taken seriously or that they do not have the same opportunities as men. This plays into the impostor syndrome that many women unfortunately experience. I recently came across a study that showed that women only applied for jobs if they met 100% of the job description, while men applied even if they met 60%. This is why I am so committed to creating a supportive and inclusive space for women. There are so many challenges women face in the workplace, even though it’s 2022. We’ve come a long way, but there’s still a long way to go.

What are the opportunities for women to become successful entrepreneurs?
Entrepreneurship truly is the path to leadership and today it is easier than ever for women to start their own successful businesses. Women can be empowered to be their own boss, pay their own wages, work the hours they choose, and create the work-life balance they want. Being an entrepreneur also gives women the opportunity to collaborate with or hire other women.

To make the most of these opportunities, women can sharpen their knowledge and skills through business courses or a degree and get a crystal clear vision for their business. I also suggest cultivating relationships with people who will challenge, motivate, inspire and support you, whether it’s your friends, colleagues, mentors or us at BIZ.
